Job Description

Reporting to the Project Engineer, the Engineering Technologist T/EIT will be responsible for assisting Engineers and Senior Engineers in various rehabilitation projects, structural retrofits and condition assessment reviews.

Major Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering designs from conceptual design, through tender to construction.
  • Prepare proposals and feasibility studies. Prepare detailed design calculations and layouts.
  • Conducted client meetings, contractor and client workshops, on-site technical construction support during construction and commissioning phase.
  • Develop preliminary design and engineering specifications and keep it current with design.
  • Act as team leader to coordinate with other disciplines in planning and executing project tasks.
  • Guide and direct engineers in training, designers and drafters in project team for design criteria, work priority, work load and schedule.
  • Ensure all completed work conforms to contract requirements within budget and schedule.
  • Review design and analysis documents, organize markups and design drawings to improve design quality.  

Key Qualifications

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a Civil Engineering Technologist Program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in performing manual and computerized mathematical calculations used in engineering analyses and modeling.
  • Considerable experience in AutoCAD BlueBeam, and Excel etc.
  • Considerable experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and plans.

You Must Also Have

  • Must be able to travel to various work locations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Knowledge in Civil Engineering principles related to the design and construction of concrete, steel and wood, structure systems and facilities.
  •  Solid theoretical, practical background in structural engineering field.
  • Experience in high-rise residential, commercial, institutional and industrial building structural design.
  • Knowledge in building structural condition evaluation, renovation, alteration and addition design.
  • Knowledge in structural analysis and design software: Etabs, SAP2000, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of NBCC, OBC, CSA-A23.3, CSA-S16.1, CSA-S304, etc.
  • Considerable  experience with investigation report, proposal, specification preparation and shop drawing review.
  • Considerable  extensive experience in design-build project design and project management.
  • Considerable  coordination skills with other design disciplines to improve design quality.
  •  Considerable  manage design work and meet the deadline within budget and client expectations.
  • Considerable  interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent client relationship.
  • Considerable  organizational skills, multi-task performer, team player, quick learner and hard worker.
